I'm rearanging my public persona. Moving away from Eciton and centralizing over at subQ.org. Yeah, it's still pretty empty at the moment, but I've been busy.

I don't know where I am at the moment, but my library is in Brooklyn.

This is my play space. So the impression of self which is presented will vary, and text or essays may not always be in the voice of the author. i.e. Please take what you find here with a good pound of salt. Pay no attention to the little green man behind the cursor.

About me:

First off, I'm a geek. When finances force me back into the corporate dogma, I will prefer a full suit. I need the jacket to hold my computers and pens. I will live in cargo pants until that time.

I'm traditionally a scientist, but I'm also a compulsive writer. I'm currently shifting into full author mode and am beginning to produce enough text to consider presenting a portfolio here. I had been writing somewhat erratic blurbs and following my thoughts. This is useful for future source material, but doesn't really lend itself to public consumption. I'm still doing that, but organization and opinion are threatening a comeback.

I'm interested in the use of word choice and cadence to present character. I especially like to play with the first and second persons, and have been known to confuse the unwary.

I'm trained as a Computer Scientist and an Experimental Researcher. I'm an experienced manager and supervisor. I'm a trained performer and an expert instructor. I have experience with Education and Observational Research. My strengths are problem-solving, brainstorming, planning and design, and conveying complex information to diverse audiences.. I've used so many computer languages that I'm fairly language neutral. I have a great fondness for relational databases. I like elegant efficacy. I support cross-platform standards compliance. I prefer Open Source software whenever possible. [Strangely, the last five sentences actually mean something. "Elegant efficacy?"]

Finally, Mel has declared that I really am insane, and that I "just use rational thought as a point of style." Yeah!
